6/161B No. 238 (The Old Humberstone
Former railway station, now disused, c. 1860. Red brick with painted ashlar
dressings. Slate hipped roofs with overhanging eaves supported on ornate brackets.
3 stacks. Chamfered blue brick plinth. Single storey. 5 bay, street front,
has central doorway with double panel doors and overlight, plus a flat painted
ashlar hood supported on scroll brackets. Eitherside are single plain sashes
with similar ashlar hoods and painted ashlar cills supported on small brackets.
Eitherside, beyond, are single tripartite plain sashes with similar ashlar hoods
and cills. Rear front has 2 central plain sashes with flat ashlar hoods supported
on scroll brackets, flanked by single panel doors with overlights and similar
ashlar hoods, eitherside, beyond are 2 more plain sashes with similar flat
hoods. Built for the London Midland Railway Company.
