Parish church. 1874-77, by Goddard and Paget. Granite rubble with Bath stone
dressings, tiled roofs with ornamental ridges. Cruciform plan with nave, central
tower, transepts and short chancel. North east vestry added 1923, later C20
vestry extension in south east angle. In late C12 - early C13 style, with plate
tracery, buttresses and coped gables. West end and north and south gables of
transepts have 2-light windows with cusped plate tracery. To north and south
of nave are cusped lancets with dripmoulds and sill string, the south with 5
bays, the north with 4 windows and moulded arched doorway. Gabled porch with
moulded arch. Over arch and doorway are hoodmoulds with carved head stops.
Central tower us of 2-stages with pyramid roof and parapet corbelled out over
recessed openings to bell-chamber. These openings are of 3-lights with plate
tracery. Narrow lancets to lower stage, the south lancet more elaborate. Semi-
octagonal stair projection at south east corner of tower. East end of chancel
has triple cusped lancets with taller central light, carved foliage stops to
dripmould, and double chamfered sill string. Plain interior with arch-braced
collar roof to nave and moulded arches to crossing. Fittings and glass are all
late Cl9-C20. Monument: re-sited in north transept is the early C15 marble effigy
of Joan Fulleshurst.
