Pair of houses. Circa 1830 remodelling of slightly earlier building, formerly
a single house. Red brick, slate roof, flanking brick chimneys. 3 storeys and
cellars, 2 bays. Brick plinth, part whitewashed; moulded brick eaves. 3-light
wooden casements with horizontal glazing bars, all renewed C20 and all with
cambered brick heads. Ground floor left window altered C20 to 3-light wooden
window with transom and segmental head. Traces of blocked narrower windows to
centre of upper storeys. Cellar openings with segmental heads. To centre are
2 doorways, the left with C20 door, the right with C19 flush-panelled door, both
in c.1830 wooden doorcases with moulded jamb pilasters and frieze, paterae, and
flat cornice hoods on shaped brackets with paterae. Interior: No 11 retains
c.1830 slate fireplace surrounds with cornices, that to ground floor with paterae,
fluting and scroll ornament, that to first floor reeded. Ground floor room also
has corner cupboard with dentil cornice. Rainwater head dated WW1786 has probably
been moved to No 13 from No 9.
