SK 52 SE BURTON ON THE WOLDS MAIN STREET
1/25 Fountain

Fountain, probably mid C19. Flanking walls form a shallow 'U' Plan (c8'
high). Tooled ashlar, terminating in slightly moulded pilasters, and topped
by a cornice. Adjoining these pilasters are 2 small roughly shaped stones,
hitching posts perhaps. In centre of main wall, a semi circular arched recess
holds,a cast iron lion head from which water falls into a semi-circular moulded
cast iron projecting trough. Sump below.
