Description

SK 52 SE HOTON WYMESWOLD ROAD
1/48 Holly Tree Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse, a C18 refronting of an earlier building. Brick with Swithland slate
roof, gable end and axial stacks. 2 storeys, 3-unit plan form. Rubble plinth
to 2 principal units may relate to earlier building, the 3rd unit perhaps added
only when the refronting took place, since it lacks this plinth, although the
dentilled eaves cornice is continuous across the entire facade.

Central door in, early C19 doorcase with moulded architrave. Flat headed casements
to windows of 2 principal units, right hand unit has cambered heads to windows
and a blocked doorway. Timber frame visible in left hand gable end: corner
posts, middle rail and arch braces, with some rubble to fire back, and clear
indication of refronting.
