1838. Built as Police Station in lieu of the Old Guard House and Stocks which
stood to the east. Coursed ironstone facade to brick building. Stone slate roof
with coped gable ends. 2 1/2 storeys, 3 windows and centre window under gable with
4 lights (2 above transom). All windows with mullions, and leaded casements.
Dripstones above. Ground floor has a narrow band of 2-light windows and 2 doors
with Tudor arches. Grade II for group value and important location.
