1839. Tudor Gothic style. Red briok with stone dressings. 2 storey pedimented
end facade faces street. 3 windows with stone labels, wooden mullions, transoms
and glazing bars. Plaque inscribed "National School built by Public Subscriptions
and Opened December 2nd 1839". Originally 2 rooms with centre house and rooms for
schoolmaster. 1870 interior plan probably altered to incorporate the centre part
as a schoolroom. Front ground floor extension with original front door reset.
Penthouse roof above. Eastern and western pedimented single storey wings, the eastern
one advanced, western recessed. Ref. Seaborne.
