Chest tombs. Early C18. Early C19. Limestone, ironstone and sandstone.
That nearest church has plain chest of coursed squared ironstone, pair of
limestone panels to W end with inscriptions to members of Morley family in
moulded surrounds and pair of massive limestone ledgers. Ledgers slope up
to W end and are inscribed in relief above panels: W 1737 M and W 1709 M.
Chest tomb further S, probably C18, of grey sandstone with pilaster strips
to corners. Furthest to S two early C19 chest tombs, one of limestone with
tapering reeded corners, slate inscription panel to N side to William Orson
d. 1830 and "hipped" top. The other of buff-coloured sandstone to John
Orson d. 1825 with concave panels either end. Chest tomb d. 1874 to John
Orson is not of special architectural interest.
