Description

TILTON ON THE HILL

SK 70 SE LODDINGTON ROAD (North Side)

5/107 Robin a Tiptoe Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. Dated 1769, but this probably represents a remodelling of an earlier,
Cl7, building. Well-coursed ironstone rubble with Swithland slate roof. 2
storeyed with attics. Main block of 3 bays with central doorway in stone
architrave, and outer 3-light straight-chamfered stone mullioned windows,
all with ornate key stones. Upper central window of 2-lights is similar, but
the outer windows are an earlier form, 3-light ovolo moulded mullions. 2 hipped
gabled dormers. Ashlar sill band. Dated over the doorway in a shield with
Roman numerals. Coped gables with moulded kneelers. Brick gable end stacks.
Lower bay to left, with doorway and 2-light casement window beneath cat-slide
dormer.
