Description

SK70 SE TUGBY MAIN STREET (East Side)

2/116 Vane Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Largely C18, but not all of one build. Coursed ironstone rubble
with Welsh slate roof. 2 storeyed. North west elevation of 3 bays, with centrally
placed doorway with chamfered timber lintel and 3-light casement, also with
chamfered timber lintel to its right. 3 upper 2-light casement windows, 2
with chamfered lintels, and the right-hand window renewed. The bay to the
left of the doorway is apparently a separate build, possibly a later addition.
Single 2-light casement window with flat timber lintel on each floor, the
windows not at the same level as those in the right-hand part of the house.
Lower 2 storey brick bay to left. Separate builds also visible to the rear
where the south western section which includes a projecting wing, is of ironstone
to ground floor and brick above. A north eastern bay however is of ironstone
throughout and of 3 storeys. 2 ground floor windows are original casements
with chamfered timber lintels, others all renewed save one second floor window
in north eastern bay which is a C19 casement with iron glazing bars. Additional
later C19 brick wing to right.
