6/24 The Maltings Barn

GV II

Barn, formerly maltings. c1800. Coursed rubble stone with quoins and C20
corrugated tile hipped roof. 2 storeys (floor removed inside). 4 boarded
windows and a loft door to centre left and centre right on 1st floor. 4 boarded
2-light windows of same size on ground floor. Stone cambered lintels. A flight
of 9 steps like a high mounting block rises to the centre right door. Red
brick with stone tops to steps. On left end a small blank tablet with hood
mould. On right end a low doorway with shouldered moulded stone frame, possibly
earlier and reset. To right a large full height C20 double doorway and plank
doors.
