3/12 Cottage occupied by Mr. E.G.
Pears, (former butchers shop
north of The Cottage.
Cottage, formerly also butcher's shop. C17, probably 1651. Timber framed
with brick nogging, all rendered over, and corrugated iron roof covering
thatch with 2 brick ridge stacks, that to left slightly to rear. Boarded
eaves. 2 storeys of 3 centre-opening 3 light casements over 2 similar
3-lights, 6-panelled door, 2-light and door. On left end a 2-light horizontal
sliding sash. Lean-to extensions to rear. Date 1651 on piece of beam said to
have come from fireplace inside.
