House. Dated on a brick, 1693. Brick with Swithland slate roof. 5 bays, 2
storeys raised on a basement. The central doorway is reached by a flight of
stone steps and has a Gibbs-type architrave, beneath a C19 elaborately
latticed wood porch. The door itself is also C19, and has ogival upper
lights. Flanking sash windows with splayed gauged brick heads are of 20
lights with thick astragals. Basement windows are casements in rendered
surrounds. Fine modillion eaves cornice. Brick coped gables, corbelled out.
Gable end stacks are ornamented with four tiers of projecting bosses. Garden
wall is attached to the house at each angle. C18. Brick with buttresses and
stone copings. Gate piers are capped by slender flaming urns. The wall
continues to enclose a garden to the left of the house.
