1/5 The Cottage

GV II

Cottage. Late C16 or early C17. Timber framed with brick panel infilling and
thatched roof. Original dwelling of 3 wide bays, 1½ storeyed. 1 3-light casement
window in each bay and 2 3-light eyebrow dormers above. No visible sill beam.
Post and truss construction with arch bracing. Arch braced middle rail in
left-hand bay only. Gable wall of 2 bays with tie beam and simple A framed
truss above. Entrance to rear in small brick gable adjoined by taller wing
of c1950. Gable and axial stacks.
