8/56 The Old House and Garden Wall

GV II

House. C17 core, altered and dated, 1712. Timber frame of post and truss
construction with brick panel infill on rubble plinth. Welsh slate roof.
2 storeyed, 7 unevenly sized bays with continuous vertical posts and some arched
bracing and 2 and 3 middle rails. Centrally placed doorway and flanking
2-light casement windows. Right hand bay is wider and retains only the
wallplate of any timbering. It is C18 brickwork with dark headers and has a
blocked door to left and 3-light casement window beyond on each floor. Panel
infill is dated with blue headers 1712, with initials TBD. Axial and gable
stacks. Range of stabling etc., forms rear wing, and is partially C.18. Length
of garden wall attached to east, C18. Mud on cobble plinth with pantiled coping.
