1/84 Yeomans Cottage
(Previously listed as 'House,
11.1.55 next south of County Library')


House, probably late C16 in origin, though dated on tie beam 1669. Timber
framed, render over panel infill, with thatched roof. 2 storeyed, 4 bays.
Left hand bay retains only the wall plate of visible timber framing and has a
single 3-light window on each floor. Right hand bay is gabled, with wood
moulded kneelers to gable, and decorative diamond panel framing in the apex.
Arch braces below gable tie beam. Middle rail and studs below ground floor
window and also tension bracing. Central section has coved jettied middle
rail and intermediate lower rail. Tension bracing above sill, and studding at
first floor level with some arch bracing. Doorway to right and 3-light window
to left. Axial stack. Dormer within roof. All windows are recent oriels
with leaded lights.
