GV II

Cottage with attached Smithy. Early C17, early C19, C20. Timber-framed with cob
infill, now stuccoed. Slate roof with brick gable stacks. Bargeboarded north
gable. Tarred brick plinth. 1½ storeys, 2 bays. Single 3-light casement in west
wall, with above, 2 gabled dormers, with 2-light casements. Wooden corner post
visible at south-west corner. South gable end wall has off-centre doorway with
sloping hood on brackets, sheltering C20 part-glazed door and 2-light casement.
Above to right, a small casement in the attic. Interior: much altered in C19 and
C20, but ground floor has beam with incised date 1628. Upper floor has chamfered
beam with early C17 stop. 1½ storey addition to north. Brick, now rendered on
ironstone plinth. Slate roof with gable stack. Off-centre doorway with cambered
arch and plank door. To left, a blind opening and then a 2-light casement, both
with cambered arches. Above, 3 oblong blind openings.
