House. C17 with C19 and C20 alterations. Stone and brick. 2 ranges at right
angles to one another. West facing range has slate roof with brick gable stack
and ridge stack. Chamfered ironstone plinth. Moulded ashlar stringcourse with
brick set-offs at first floor level. Dentilled brick eaves cornice. West front:
2 storeys, 4 bays. Stone faced. Off-centre doorway with plain surround and C19
6-panel door. To left, a 2-light iron casement. To right, in a blocked doorway,
a 2-light unglazed casement with iron bars. To right again, a 3-light casement.
Above the doorway, a sliding sash with moulded ashlar frame. To right a 2-light
casement with stone cill and lintel. Below is set a blank ashlared stone. Too
right again, a 3-light casement with cambered arch. Several courses of brickwork
below eaves indicate C19 raising and re-roofing. South range originally a cottage
with farm buildings attached. C19, brick with slate roof and brick gable stacks.
South front: 2 storeys, 4 bays. Off-centre doorway with plain surround and C20
plank door. To left, a 3-light sliding sash with cambered arch. To right, a
2-light casement, with to right, C20 French windows, both with flat arches.
Above, first storey brickwork appears later. Three 3-light sliding sashes all
with cambered arches. C20, 2-storey addition adjoining at right. Interior:
chamfered main beams and joists. Room in south range reputed to have chevron and
S-pattern painted beams, now ceiled over.
