Hillbrook House
1/88 including front garden
area railings and gate

House. Circa 1835. Flemish bond red brick. Welsh slate roof
with gabled ends and brick dentil eaves. Brick gable end stacks.
PLAN: Double depth plan with central entrance between 2 principal
front rooms.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and loft. Symmetrical 3-window west front.
C19 sash windows with glazing bars, 12-pane on ground and 9-pane
on first floor; flat brick arches and stuccoed reveals. Central
doorway, doorcase with reeded pilasters, panelled reveals, small
canopy/cornice, traceried rectangular fanlight and later C19
panelled door. Left-hand north side has C19 metal-frame
casements with glazing bars, small loft door in round arch in
gable with Phoenix fire insurance plaque below. Right-hand
(south) side has C20 conservatory. Including later C19 cast-iron
front garden area railings with ornate finials, gate-piers and
gate, on brick plinth.
