15/56 Memorial Cottage

20.10.86 II

Cottage. C17, altered mid C19 and C20. Red brick, partly in
English bond, pantile roof with brick crow-stepped gables and
moulded kneelers. Large wall stack to rear having a pair of
diamond set shafts on plinth with brick dogtoothing. Single
storey plus attics, 3 bay front with dogtooth eaves course.
Eaves now raised by 3 courses since removal of thatch. Advanced
porch also with crow-stepped gables. Rusticated piers support a
semi-circular arch with brick dogtoothing. In the gable a shield
plaque bearing the Moores/Coney crest. In the side walls are 2
narrow semi-circular headed openings. Planked door. To either
side are single C19 3 light leaded casements with chamfered stone
mullions and tiled hoods. In the roof 2 C20 gabled dormers.
