TF 35 SE OLD LEAKE HUNSTON LANE

2/107 Hunston House

II

House. 1796, altered c.1844. Red brick, front in lined stucco,
slate roof, stone coped gables, 2 yellow brick gable stacks. L-
plan. 2 storey plus attics, 3 bay front having C20 door covered
by C19 canted porch, flanked by single C19 lead roofed canted
bays with plain sashes. To first floor the central bay is
advanced and separately gabled with moulded kneelers. Central
plain sash, flanked by single glazing bar sashes. In the gable a
rectangular plaque inscribed "This building erected by Messrs.
John Ayre, Wm. Blaydwin, Wm Atkins, Edwd Hennings, Trustees to
the late Mr Edwd Hunston, 1796". In the roof 2 glazing bar sash
dormers with rendered cheeks and lead roofs. The Edward Hunstone
Charity was founded by endowment in 1655. The farm is still
administered by a charity, profits going to assist farmers in
