Sheepwash Grange

II

House. Early C18, with late C18 and C20 alterations. Coursed limestone
rubble, with plain tile roofs, that to the main block hipped with a central
stone stack, that to side wing half-hipped with lateral stack. Irregular
quoins. 2 storey. South front, 3 bay, with central projecting stone porch
with C20 panel door. To the left a blocked window and to the right a fixed
window with glazing bars. Above a central coat of arms, flanked by single
glazing bar sashes. West front, has a canted bay window with glazing bar
sashes and above 2 windows, that to left with a glazing bar sash, that to
right blocked. Each front has a glazing bar sash with above, a glazing bar
sash and to the right a blocked window. East wing has a panel door with
overlight to left and a 3 light, then a 2 light casement, with similar
windows above. This building stands on the site of a former Cistercian
Grange, once used as a warehouse and wool store.
