Includes No. 1 Castlegate, 2 houses, one composition, early C19, 3 -
storey with basement; cemented front with stone cornice and parapet, hipped
slate roof, ground floor rusticated; slightly projecting central block;
5 windows with glazing bars and slatted shutters on ground floor; balcony
with cast-iron railing 1st floor porch at left. Pattern of balcony
identical with that on Saracen's Head, Lincoln, also White Hart, Sleaford,
as well as several private houses in the district, - also at Newark.
Rear of house has plaque "1835 C. Holt".
