The Stag Public House

G.V.
II

Public house; C17 with extensive late C18 and C19 additions and
alterations. Coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings,
pantile roof with 2 brick gable and one off centre ridge stacks. Two
storey four bay front with central C2D door and surround flanked by
single late C18 glazing bar sashes with flat lintels and splayed keystones.
Three first floor windows are similar; all windows have C20 Venetian
shutters. To right a single storey block, dated on the gable 1857. In
the left hand gable the shape of a C17 house can be seen, suggesting
that the building has been raised and re-fronted.
