Grotto, early C19. Coursed limestone rubble, brick arch with keystone,
slate roof with castellations at rear. Wide central brick Rustic arch
with stone keystone flanked by single brick pointed headed blank niches.
The recessed central bay is lined with pebbles and rock faced hard stone
blocks, horizontal on the splayed reveals, and in the form of a pointed arch
on the rear panel. A vault of 3 compartments, again lined with pebbles
and rocks, rises above a brick string course. The grotto contains a
contemporary wooden bench in the Rustic style. Included for group value only.
