SK 94 SW SYSTON GREEN LANE

5/115 Rose Cottage

House; 1830 with addition of 1863. Coursed limestone rubble with
ashlar dressings and quoins, painted. Slate roof with lead dressings,
stone coped gables with 2 stacks. Two storey with slight plinth and
first floor band. Three bays with end pilasters, slightly advanced
pedimented centre bay surmounted by cross fleury. Central four panelled
door with traceried overlight covered by 2 columned open Tuscan porch with
flat roof and moulded cornice. All windows are 4 pane sashes with
flat lintels with slightly emphasised keystones. In the pediment is
an inscribed plaque, IHT 1830'. To the rear is an extension dated
1863. Interior retains shutters and one original fireplace. The house
was built for the estate manager of Systan Park by Thorolds.
