Circa 1840, 2 storeys. Elaborate classical front in ashlar, with chanelled rusticated
ground floor. 3 full-length upper windows with hung sashes with glazing bars in
shouldered architraves with frieze and cornice. Moulded band between storeys breaking
forward into pediment with modillions over inset door of 4 panels with rectangular
fanlight and exaggerated batten. 2 recessed round-arched ground floor windows
with keystone. Attic storey over moulded cornice with lion masks and parapet with
2 groups of balusters and one plain panel. Formerly possessed cupola. Built
as the Stamford Institution or Camera Obscura House. Architect, Edward Browning?
