SK 9825-9925 Market Cross

6.5.52 Village Cross)


Market cross. C14 with C18 and C20 alterations. Ashlar with
C20 blue brick base. Tall C14 octagonal base with 4 steps
leading to C18 square shaft with shallow stopped chamfers
surmounted by moulded cornice and ball finial. A weekly Thursday
market was granted in 1238 but had ended by the beginning of the
