Grimsthorpe Castle

G.V. II*

Group of 3 statues. Mid C18, possibly by Batty Langley, in Coade
stone and lead. Pair of urns with floriate knops, gadrooned
covers and bases, flowers and fruit to sides. Standing on square
swept bases with moulded tops. Between them a lead figure of a
gladiator standing on a panelled oval Coade stone base. Part of
formal gardens laid out for the Duke of Ancaster.
