G.V. II

Public house. C17, extended and extensively remodelled early
C19. Squared limestone rubble, ashlar quoins and dressings,
Welsh slate roof, having raised stone coped gables with finial
and 2 moulded stone ridge stacks. L-plan. 2 storey, 5 bay
front, the end bays are gabled and linked by embattled parapet.
Central 6 panelled door with projecting gabled ashlar porch
having 4 centred chamfered outer arch, pointed single Gothick
side lights and moulded parapet surmounted by fine cast bronze
griffin, flanked by pairs of 3 light windows. To first floor a
central 2 light window is flanked by pairs of 3 light windows.
In the gables are 2 light windows. All windows have chamfered
mullions, hood moulds and glazing bar sashes. The C17 block is
to the left with eaves to the street. 2 storey street front
originally of 5 bays, having central 6 panelled door with
bordered overlight with now to left only 2 glazing bar sashes. To
first floor are 2 similar windows. All openings including those
which are blocked have timber lintels.
