Nos 1 and 2 Elm Cottages
3/1 II

2 cottages. c.1865, C20. Red brick with stock brick and
limestone ashlar dressings. Slate roofs with stone coped gables
with kneelers, stock brick gable stack and single ridge stack. 2
C20 fanlights in roof. 2 storey, 3 bay front with central gabled
bay. Stock brick dressed plinth, ashlar quoins and several
horizontal stock brick bands. Central canted bay window with 4
narrow ashlar dressed lights, flanked by single lights, all with
segmental heads and plain sashes. Large window to left with 5
narrow ashlar dressed lights with plain sashes and segmental
heads, raised central plaque containing trefoil and roundels, and
ashlar hood mould. 3 light ashlar dressed mullion window to
right with plain sashes with segmental heads and ashlar hood
mould. Pointed 3 light central window above with central
triangular headed light flanking taller pointed light, with plain
sashes and hood mould. Slit light in gable above. Central
window flanked by single 2 light ashlar dressed windows with
plain sashes and segmental heads. Lean-to porch with stone coped
gable with kneeler to right, with pointed ashlar dressed doorway
with plank door. Lean-to porch to left with gable removed,
ashlar dressed doorway and panelled door.
