6/108 Waggon and Horses

G.V. II

Public house. 1831. Coursed and banded limestone rubble.
Ashlar quoins and dressings, slate roof, 2 red brick gable
stacks. 2 storey, 3 bay front with central 4 flush panel door
plus overlight, flanked by single glazing bar sashes. To first
floor a central blank opening is flanked by single similar
windows. All openings have ashlar lintels with keystones.
Between the right hand pair of upper windows a square ashlar
plaque has the date 1831, the initials JJM and is inscribed
"friendship and unity" and is adorned with pipes, a flagon,
hearts and clasping hands, plus a cornice over. To right a
single storey single bay service block with pantile roof
containing a single glazing bar casement beneath a continuous
wooden lintel.
