Gate lodge. c.1820. Coursed squared rubble with ashlar quoins
and dressings, roof of shaped slates having raised stone coped
gables with kneelers, 2 ridge ashlar stacks. T-plan, with
facetted entrance tower in angle. 2 storey, 5 bay front with in
the angle a pointed door with Gothick tracery in moulded stone
surround with hood and human head stops, flanked by single
lights. Beyond to the left a canted bay has a hipped ashlar roof
and to right is a 3 light window. In centre of first floor is a
single fixed lancet, flanked by single rectangular slits. Beyond
are 2 light windows. All windows have chamfered surrounds and
cavetto moulded mullions. The central tower has blank shields to
the top stage, a gabled parapet and a shaped ashlar dome with
raised ribs terminating in a low knop with crocketed lead finial.
In the flanking side gables are shields and angel corbels
supporting octagonal finials and moulded tops.
