Former icehouse, converted to creamery. C18 altered mid C19.
Red brick. Circular plan. Domed structure beneath earth mound
has C18 brick retaining wall with moulded plinth on west side
only, facing site of Uffington House. Single opposed entrances
and windows are set between raking stone coped brick retaining
walls on three sides and towards the house only, a doorway with
segmental head and later buttresses to retaining wall. Planked
entrance door with flat stone lintel, three steps down to domed
interior. The circular room has a continuous stone shelf at
working height and a narrower stone shelf at higher level. Two
courses of decorative C19 salt glazed blue and white wall tiles.
In the centre is an ornate stone basin on a cylindrical pier with
turned base. This was the ice house then creamery to Uffington
House.
