6/24 Thatched Cottage
II
Cottage. Early C18 with C19 alterations. Mud and stud
underbuilt in brick, painted white. Half hipped thatched roof
with decorative eaves and single ridge stack. Single storey with
attics, 4 bay front having off-centre half glazed door flanked by
glazing bar sliding sashes. Beyond to the right a further
similar window. All openings have timber lintels. To eaves a 2
light attic window under thatched eyebrow. Interior. Floor
timbers and beams, all exposed are late C18/early C19. In the
attic some original timber stud posts survive and the nailed roof
has partly clasped purlin and staggered purlin construction.
