Gates and Piers to

beside walled garden

Gate piers c1730. Ashlar. 2 ashlar gate piers in the form of obelisks with fluted
circular bases with lions heads. Pineapple knops and on the sides human head masks
with dependant foliage and moulded shells. The gate piers formerly stood on the
forecourt and may originally have formed part of a garden terrace. Source: Country
