1/16 East Kirkby Windmill


Tower windmill. Built for William Thimbleby in 1820 by the
millwright Sam Ward and completed by Oxley of Alford. Red brick,
some blue brick. Raised eaves band. 6 storeys. To the south
and north are single doorways and to the east and west single
window openings. Each floor above with 4 window openings, apart
from the first floor east which has no opening. The openings of
the top 2 floors are smaller. All openings under segmental
arches. No milling machinery visible from exterior. Source:
