Ruins of Bayon's Manor including remains of icehouse and east
gateway with joining wall, and fragmentary north curtain wall.
c1840. Ironstone ashlar. Ruinous, overgrown icehouse to the
right, original octagonal tower demolished, only lower, circular
portion extant with doorway in north side, with shaped head,
with flat apex, flanked by 3 large rolls on each side with plain
rectangular jambs. Broken wall runs northwards to the left for
approximately 20 yards where east gateway remains with 3 centred
head, 2 orders, large buttresses on outer wall and single studded
plank door, one of a pair. Ruinous north curtain wall with 2
pairs of lancets and 2 single lancets and fragmentary doorjambs.
Overgrown heap of rubble to the west is all that remains of the
great keep.
