SK 97 NE SOUTH CARLTON WEST STREET

School, now closed. 1876. Rock faced limestone, ashlar
dressings, plain tiled roof, single storey, 3 bay front, with
lower hipped porches to either end. Plinth, 3 tall through eaves
windows with hinged lights and weatherboarded gables over. To
right of front a stone inscribed 'Monson Free School founded 1678
by Sir John Monson', with arms over. Porches to either end have
battered bases and central planked doors with rounded heads
flanked by single fixed lights. To gable ends ,are circular
windows containing fixed semi-circular leaded glazing bar lights
in a classical style.
