Country house. C15, early Cl7, C18, C19, C20. Rendered and
colourwashed red brick, colourwashed brick, some mock timber
framing, some ashlar. Pantile roofs with some slate and some
plain tiles. Eaves decorated in places. 2 coped gables. 4
large projecting stacks on east side, 3 with tall, paired angle
shafts, one with 4 tall angle shafts. Single gable, ridge and
lateral stacks. Single small, raking dormer with casement on
east side. 2 storey, with attic on east side. 12 bay west front
with 3 lower early C19 bays to left, and 9 C17 bays, remodelled
in C18 to right with plinth, decorated eaves and mid C19 mock
timber framing. Off-centre doorway to right with broad, wooden
C19 doorcase with broad, angled shoulders and flat head, hood
mould and late C18 fanlight and partially glazed door with large
diamond panes. 3 bays to right of doorway project slightly at
irregular angles with 3 late C18 windows with broad angled
shoulders, flat heads and large diamond panes. C19 cast iron
veranda with 4 slender columns, latticework and glass lean-to
roof in front of doorway and window to right. Large late C18
splayed bay window to left of doorway with 3 windows, central
window with round head, all with large diamond panes and
continuous C19 hood mould. 2 narrow casements to left with 2
three light casements beyond, that to the right with broad Cl?
moulded cornice, that to left with narrow C19 moulded cornice.
Small, narrow fixed light beyond with small sliding sash to left.
3 three light sliding sashes with segmental heads in C19 range to
left with 3 three light sliding sashes with segmental heads
above. 2 three light casements to right, that to left with
narrow C19 moulded cornice, that to right with broader C17
moulded cornice. Large round window to right with large glazing
bars incorporating small 2 light casement. C19 splayed bay
window to right with central 3 light casement flanked by single 2
light casements. 3 light casement beyond to right with C19
moulded cornice. 2 light casement with wooden lintel to right.
South end with 3 bay late C18 loggia with plain columns, moulded
capitals and 3 arches with broad angled shoulders and flat heads.
Beneath loggia, single window with 3 windows above, all with
broad angled shoulders, flat heads and large diamond panes.
Loggia roofed with plain tiles. 12 bay east front with 4 large
early Cl? brick stacks and 2 C19 lean-to additions and long
projecting C19 block with round headed windows and large diamond
panes. Single windows flank stack to left with broad angled
shoulders, flat heads and large diamond panes. 2 long casements
to right of projecting block with glazing bar sash beyond.
Doorway to right with segmental head and partially glazed door.
2 large garage openings in low C19 range to right with 3 light
sliding sash with segmental head to right. Single late C18
window to right of southernmost projecting stack with broad,
angled shoulders, flat head and large diamond panes. 2 light
sliding sash to right with 3 light sliding sash beyond with
single light blocked. 3 sliding sashes alternate with 2
casements to right. 2 three light sliding sashes with segmental
heads over garage doors. C15 brickwork intact in cellars. 2
late C18 white marble fireplaces; plain C19 staircase.
