Yew Tree Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. C16, refronted late C17, raised and altered early
C19, altered C20. Originally timber framed. Red brick in
Flemish bond, pantile roof with one coped brick tumbled gable, 2
gable stacks. Single storey plus attics and 2 storey, 3 bay
front, chamfered plinth, gable band. The left hand bay is
slightly advanced and single storey with a 2 light glazing bar
sliding sash and brick segmental head. In the roof a raking
dormer with 2 light glazing bar sliding sash. To the right a C20
porch, and then a 2 storey parlour block raised in C19, with a
glazing bar sash with rubbed brick arch to each floor. Inside the
rear wall plate of the original frame is visible with 2 dowelled
mortice holes for vanished wall posts. Other posts survive in
the thickness of the walls, and above the left hand fireplace is
a chamfered bressumer. In the hall is a late C17 chamfered
girder with ogee stops.
