C17 or earlier timber framed 3 bay, lobby entry house. (A rare survival on the
fringes of London). Former farmhouse faced with weatherboarding, Two storeys.
Two windows. Tiled roof. Windows - horizontally sliding. Plain doorway with hood.
Extension to left with tripartite sash. William Blake was a frequent visitor to the
house when it was occupied by John Linnell. In the C20 it was occupied by
Sir Raymond Unwin who converted the adjoining barn into part of the dwelling. He
lived here while supervising the laying out of Hampstead Garden Suburb. Roof
reconstructed 1981 following a fire.
