TQ 29 SE 6/31 4.6.71


Circa 1825-6. Built by James Frost, builders. Formerly a double cottage, now one
residence. Two storey and basement. One window with 2 window return. Slate hipped
roof with projecting boxed out eaves. Multi-coloured stock brick. Recessed sash
windows with stucco architraves and glazing bars. Round arched, architraved doorway
with radial fanlight, panelled door and added wooden porch. Entrance approached by
steps flanked by cast iron railings. At rear, former cottage entrance connected for
use as splayed bay windows, with railings and steps similar to other entrance.
Interesting interior with vaulted, pilastered tile ceilings supported by cast iron
ribs and decorated with fluted patterns. One surviving dogleg staircase with stair
treads and cast iron, fretwork balustrades.
