1861 by Edward Norton Clifton (1817-1889) classical stone-faced palazzo building,
regular elevation slightly bowed to follow line of street. 4 storeys with 2 rows
of modern dormer windows in the roof. 9 bays wide. The ground floor has segmental
headed openings with masks on the keystones between vermiculated piers, all raised
on pedestals. Plain frieze with ornamental band above. Entrance bay at western
end flanked by Doric 1/2 columns supporting an entablature. Subsidiary entrance
at eastern end with pilasters. 1st floor has round-headed windows within Corinthian
aedicules. Pierced balustrade to each window. 2nd floor with square headed windows
beneath cornices on console brackets: pierced balconettes and continuous cill band.
3rd floor with segmental headed windows with projecting cills on small brackets,
continuous cill band. Bracketed crowning cornice.
