Pair of early C19 houses. Each 2 storeys and basement, one window in central
block and one window in set back entrance bays. Slated roof of moderate pitch
with eaves soffit in front, overhanging verges at sides of centre block. Parapet
fronts to entrance sections. Multicoloured stock brick with stuccoed fronts.
Plain reveals to sash windows with glazing bars. Those in main block 3-light.
Stone loggia, resting on curved, cast iron brackets, runs full length of main
block ground floor and has diamond and fishscale wood trellis work and swept
lead roof. 6-panel door, (No 38 has upper panels glazed) with cornice head and
rectangular fanlight, in quasi-Tuscan prostyle porch with square columns. No
35 has one storey, 1 window extension at right.
Ground in front of basement windows has been cut away to give more light and
a bridge built from street to front door, containing separate entrance to basement.
Nos 23 to 45 (odd) form a group.
