1900-l9O2 by Basil Champneys. Nave, aisles and chancel. Multicoloured stock
brick. Fairly high pitched, pantiled roof. Aisle roofs slope steeply down.
Aisles blank. 4-bay nave with 2 quasi-Perpendicular clerestory windows in each
bay. Gabled, battered buttresses break eaves line and continue over nave roof
to repeat their shape on ground floor. At East end ground floor is higher, with
windows, and buttresses fly over to join 1st floor uprights at high level. 1st
floor blank except for high pointed oval window with plain glazed central cross,
traceried spandrels. At West end group of 3 tall windows, with figures of saints
on foliated corbels between, all under wide, pointed overhanging arch. Octagonal
angle turrets with battlemented tops. Large buttresses rise above battlements
of projecting ground floor and fly across to turrets. On North wall, at chancel
arch position a similar turret with decorated wrought iron bell cupola. Battlemented
North-West porch.
