Terrace of houses made out of Infirmary of former Naval Asylum School. Late
C18. Long front of 2 storeys, 15 windows with ends stepped to accommodate rise
of hill. Moderately low pitched, slated.roof with bracketed eaves soffit.
Multicoloured stock brick. Gauged, flat brick arches and stone cills to recessed
sash windows with glazing bars, mostly replaced. The 2 left windows of No 40
blank.
Inside No 34 has curved stone staircase with square iron balusters slightly bowed
out in lower part. Octagonal well with domed ceiling. No 38 has similar staircase
in octagonal well with longer sides, giving oval effect. Domed ceiling also.
