Early C19 composition in stucco. Central linking block of 4 storeys, 1 window.
Wide side pilasters to 2nd and 3rd floor support low, pedimented parapet. A 3-light
recessed sash window in plain reveal on each floor. 2nd floor moulded string
rests on scrolled keystone of round arched, 2-storey carriage entrance. Moulded
architrave and panelled impost blocks to arch. Tablet above string inscribed
"SPREAD EAGLE YARD." 3-storey side wings. 2 windows on each front and 1 curved
window in slightly set back convex quadrant returns to centre piece. Recessed
sash windows with glazing bars, those on ground floor of No 9 replaced. No 8
has somewhat altered mid C19 shop front on ground floor. No 9 has 1st floor
band and modern door. The "Spread Eagle" was a former coaching inn.
