1637-8. Built for Richard Sprignall, a Captain of Train Bands, Splendid example of Renaissance brickwork.

Two storeys, attic and basement, seven windows. Slated mansard roof has seven dormers, the fourth with segmental pediment. Central balustraded flat roof holds ogee lead cupola on tall octagonal drum. Red brick front has rusticated quoins at angles and at sides of slightly-projecting three-bay centre. Heavy entablatures at first floor level and below parapet. Raised brick eared window architraves, that in first floor centre double-eared. Early C19 sash windows with glazing bars in exposed moulded frames. Round headed door of six fielded panels, top glazed, in moulded architrave with curved keyblock. C18 Tuscan doorcase on rusticated stucco panel. Later right bay with carriageway.

Inside a fine staircase in square well, rising to second floor. Robustly carved strapwork balustrades with military emblems and Ionic column newels supporting carved figures in different military uniforms. Many original doors and doorcases, carved stone fireplaces, plaster ceilings and one large room completely panelled. Some C18 embellishment; and a left rear extension of C18.

No. 104 (Cromwell House) and walls, Nos. 106, 106A,108 and walls and gates, No. 110 and walls and No. 112 form a group.
