Early-mid C19 villa set back from road. 3 storey centre block with 2 storey right
entrance section slightly set back. Stucco with banded rusticated ground floor
forming voussoirs to window. 2 windows on floors above. Hipped slated roof.
Sash windows on 2nd floor, long casements on 1st floor leading to cast iron balconies,
modern casement on ground floor, all with glazing bars. Half glazed door, with
margin lights, in wood porch with cornice. Lean-to 2 storey left extension, which
is part of the property of No 52: 3 storey, 2 window early C19 house with low
pitched slated roof and central chimney. Stuccoed. 2nd floor casement windows
in moulded architraves. 1st floor oriel bay casements with hipped roofs. Ground
floor long casements under full width loggia with swept roof on wood posts. Scalloped
bargeboard. Lean-to right extension has French Doors under glazed hood and a
small casement above. No 54 (FERNWOOD) is a 3 storey and basement, 3 window early-mid
C19 villa. Stuccoed. Hipped slate roof has wide eaves soffit with paired brackets.
String at 2nd floor cills. On 1st and 2nd floors sash windows with glazing bars
in raised surrounds with keystones and bracketed cills. Blind cases to 1st floor
windows. On ground floor later C19 square and canted bays flank half-glazed door
in quasi-classical porch. Right coachhouse extension, linked by wall with arched
entrance, is of painted brick with low pitched slated roof. Arcaded ground floor
and oculus in gable above. Central louvred turret. This stable is part of the
property of No 52A.
